Berlin-Wedding is a location with tradition in the heart of Berlin.
Between 1887-1905 the AEG, a machinery production plant, was established in this location. In the meantime these buildings were modernised and in 1983 was opened the "Berliner Innovations- und GründerZentrum", BIG (Berlin innovation and business incubation centre) as the first German technology and business incubation centre of this kind.

For the fist time in Germany, new pragmatic assistance was given to young innovative companies in the founding-, starting up-, and first developing stage. Both, BIG and TIB, are managed by the "Innovations-Zentrum Berlin Management GmbH", IZBM (managing company of innovation and business incubation centres in Berlin); both are instruments for the economic promotion in Berlin and work closely together with other technology- and innovation centres in the Berlin region. The IZBM is fulfilling their intentions by working closely with the "Gewerbesiedlungsgesellschaft mbH", GSG (managing company for business locations), which is responsible for the facility management.

The IZBM offers in BiG/TIB located on the Technology park with a total area of 92,000 square meters:

• for start-up entrepreneurs
• for young companies with innovative projects
• for established and growing innovative companies, and others with time limited innovative projects

a wide spectrum of assistance-, support-services and other forms of extensive service offers, as well as in cooperation with the GSG an area of approximately 52,000 square meters of space at reasonably low prices within modernised historical buildings. The offices and halls are of multifunctional use.

The rental price to be paid monthly is from 8.00 to 10.00 EURO per meters squared and includes fundamental services. The additional costs (heating, electricity, etc.) is approximately 0.70 Euro per meters squared and should be paid in advance.
The requirement to become a company within the BIG and TIB is the submission of a business plan with a workable idea.
