IZBM, Innovations-Zentrum Berlin Management GmbH, managing company for innovation and business incubation centres in Berlin was founded in 1986 as a subsidiary of Berlin Business Development Corporation. Since 2006 the IZBM has turned into a 100% subsidiary of state-owned WISTA-Management GmbH with its primary goal retained unchanged to develop and operate technology-, innovation- and business incubation centres.
IZBM runs BIG, Berliner Innovations- und Gründerzentrum, Berlin Innovation and Business Incubation Centre which is the first German Incubation Centre as part of TIB, Technologie- und Innovationspark Berlin, Berlin Technology and Innovation Park. Both are located in Berlin-Wedding, a part of the city district of Mitte, in cooperation with GSG, Gewerbesiedlungsgesellschaft mbH, management company for business locations.
IZBM developed concepts for IGZ, Innovations- und GründerZentrum, Innovation and Business Incubation Centre as well as for OWZ, International Business Incubator. It has managed IGZ since 1991 and OWZ since 1997. Both centres are part of Berlin Adlershof, the City of Science, Technology and Media, there.
As part of Campus Charlottenburg, Charlottenburg Innovation Centre, CHIC, has started to operate at a first phase of building in close co-operation with the Berlin University of Technology and the Berlin University of the Arts.
IZBM operates very close with start-up and pre-incubation initiatives of Berlin Universities.
IZBM is a founder member of ADT, German Association of Innovation, Technology and Business Incubation Centres and Innokolleg (Berlin-Brandenburg Network of Business Incubation Centres).
