Berlin-Wedding is a long-standing site in the heart of Berlin. AEG, a machinery production plant was established there between 1887-1905. The building complex had been modernized and Germany's first Technology and Business Incubation Centre, BIG (Berliner Innovations- und Gründerzentrum) opened there in 1983.
Extended by Germany's first Technology Park in 1985, TIB (Technologie- und Innovationspark Berlin), Technology and Innovation Park Berlin came up with over 90 companies. BIG/TIB are both marked by their close vicinity to 14 institutes of scientific research of the Berlin University of Technology, TUB, and Fraunhofer Institute, FhG, both located at this park.
